On the list of pleasant surprises included in many home purchases, a home security system does not rank particularly high. Most of the time, people end up inheriting pools or jungle gyms or swing sets or even dishwashers. However, every once in a while, someone will buy a home only to find that there is a security system already installed.
So what should the person do?
Well, there are two things said person can do. They can break out the screwdrivers and start dismantling all of the inert equipment, or they can see how this equipment can work for them.
Often times, an existing security system can be reactivated. If the system was installed by providers like www.HomesSecurity.com then the new owner could actually have the system turned on under their name. This, of course, means having access to a sophisticated home security system without any of those crazy installation costs (most of the time).
If you or someone you know ever finds themselves in this situation, you ought to really weigh the options. It might make more sense financially and logistically to leave the system and the equipment where you found it instead of taking it down. Never know when you might need it.
